A 17-year-old Georgia teen was shot and killed by a police officer who may have thought a Wii controller the boy was holding was a gun, according to reports.
Christopher Roupe answered the door at his Euharlee, Ga., home on Friday when police officers arrived to serve a
probation violation warrant for Christopher's father, according to WSB-TV. A female officer told investigators that he pointed a gun at her, but neighbors said there was a Wii remote in the teen's hand, according to the report.

The family’s lawyer, Cole Law, told the TV station: “He heard a knock at the door. He asked who it was, there was no response so he opened the door and upon opening the door he was immediately shot in the chest.”
Roupe was
pronounced dead at a hospital in Cartersville, the New York Daily News reported. The officer, who reportedly broke down sobbing at the scene, has been placed on administrative leave, according to standard procedures.
Roupe’s father and two siblings were in the
home at the time of the shooting, according to The Daily Tribune.
Roupe attended Woodland High School and planned to join the Marines, the newspaper reported.
“During the snowstorm, he shoveled snow for people and cut grass in the summer. He tried to keep his younger brother and sister in order. He was the adult of the household. He was a very friendly, down-to-earth teenager,” Caron Yates, manager of the Eagle View Mobile Home Park, told the Tribune.
She described the officer involved in the incident as personable and nice. “She was the kind of officer who tried to make peace in a situation, not just take people to jail. This is such a tragic situation for everyone involved,” Yates said.
