Constitution Tattoo Flubbed on Julia Louis-Dreyfus' Rolling Stone Cover

By    |   Thursday, 10 April 2014 07:41 AM EDT

In looking at the U.S. Constitution tattoo on Julia Louis-Dreyfus' back on Rolling Stone's new cover, it appears the magazine must've forgotten a fact check because there's a misprint that's pretty glaring — at least to history buffs.

Dreyfus, the 53-year-old star of HBO's political comedy "Veep," appears on the latest cover of the magazine topless with the words of the U.S. Constitution scrawled across her back.

But the issue is with the giant "John Hancock" signature that sits just above her naked backside, mostly because John Hancock never signed the Constitution; he signed the Declaration of Independence.

Rolling Stone spokeswoman Melissa Bruno told The Associated Press that the Declaration of Independence was written on the other side of Dreyfus' body, but they couldn't fit the signatures.

The former "Seinfeld" star joked about the error on Twitter, blaming Mike McClintock, the communications director to her fictional "Veep" character, Vice President Selina Meyer.

"Hancock signed Dec. of Independence NOT Constitution. Yet another Mike f***-up. Dummy."

The National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pa., also had some fun with the Rolling Stone blunder on social media.

"Veep" airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. EST on HBO.
