A conspiracy theorist’s Hoggwatch website has been targeting Parkland shooting survivor David Hogg in a campaign to discredit the teen who is leading calls for stricter gun laws in the U.S.
The website is the brainchild of Mike Adams, a conspiracy theorist who heads up website Natural News which challenges scientific claims and conventional medicine claims, The Daily Mail reported.
After 17 people were killed in Florida in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, the anti-Hogg website began posting content pushing conspiracies about the 18-year-old student who is referred to as an “anti-gun punk,” a “sociopath” and a “bully” in various articles.
Theories posted on the website include that Hogg was a "crisis actor" sent to stage a false flag attack at Parkland by the government and that he is the son of an FBI deep state agent.
Adams has been posting about his fringe beliefs on the internet for decades but has become the subject of scrutiny after YouTube banned Natural News in March.
When asked for comment by NBC News, a spokesperson for Adams identified as Lacey M., said his schedule was “completely booked and is not available for questions.”
Adams has links to Infowars’ Alex Jones and has appeared on his show as guest host.
Hogg has been drawing fire from the far-right since he emerged as the leading voice calling for stricter gun control measures to be taken in the U.S.
Recently he became embroiled in an escalating Twitter feud with Fox News host Laura Ingraham, who made comments mocking him about his college acceptance status.
In response Hogg posted a series of tweets calling for an advertiser boycott of the Fox News host's show, prompting several advertisers to pull their ads from Ingraham’s nightly program.
