When the show was canceled, creator Dan Harmon and many fans held onto hope that it would be picked up by another network or online service.
"I am very pleased that Community will be returning for its predestined sixth season on Yahoo," Harmon said in a statement. "I look forward to bringing our beloved NBC sitcom to a larger audience by moving it online. I vow to dominate our new competition. Rest easy, Big Bang Theory. Look out, BangBus!"
Slate reported all of the cast was on board for the continued venture.
During an episode in Season 2, "Community" character Abed (Danny Pudi), reveals his fandom of a short-lived NBC series called "The Cape" and in a funny bit, declares the series will last six seasons and movie. "Community" fans adopted that mantra after their show was canceled following its fifth season.
The fact that “Community” is getting its sixth season made fans online very happy.
