Massachusetts teacher Colleen Ritzer, found dead Wednesday in the woods near Danvers High School, was allegedly murdered by a 14-year-old student with a
box cutter after asking the student to stay after school, sources told CBS Boston.
Philip Chism, one of her students, has been charged in her death.

Another student who was in Ritzer’s algebra class with Chism
told the Boston Globe about a conversation between the suspect and murdered teacher that she overheard Tuesday, the day Ritzer disappeared.
“She saw him drawing during class and she just said to him, ‘I didn’t know you could draw,’” Rania Rhaedaoui told the Globe. “I sit really close to him, so I could hear.”
Later, Rhaedaoui told the Globe, she heard Ritzer and Chism talk again. “She just said, ‘Can you stay after with me?’ He just gave a nod,” the 14-year-old girl said. “There was a test coming up, and she wanted to know if he had any questions on learning equations.”
Another student told the Globe she passed Ritzer’s classroom at about 3:15 p.m. and saw Chism sitting in the room while Ritzer stood near her computer.
The Globe said few details of the crime have been offered by police, and they have not discussed Chism’s possible motive.
A movie theater manager came forward to say Chism came to the Danvers theater about 4:15 p.m. Tuesday and bought a ticket to watch the movie “Blue Jasmine.”
“He sat alone in Theater Two,” Scott Przybycien told the Globe, adding that he had on a sweatsuit and didn’t buy anything to eat or drink.
“There was nothing about his manner, or the way he was dressed, that stood out. A teen dressed in a sweatsuit is not unusual here,” he told the Globe.
