Colin Trevorrow is the latest director to leave the untitled "Star Wars: Episode IX" after Disney and Lucasfilm decided to part ways with him.

Disney and Lucasfilm now looking for a new director to take his spot, according to Fox News.

The news was announced on the "Star Wars" website.

"Lucasfilm and Colin Trevorrow have mutually chosen to part ways on 'Star Wars: Episode IX.' Colin has been a wonderful collaborator throughout the development process but we have all come to the conclusion that our visions for the project differ," the statement read. "We wish Colin the best and will be sharing more information about the film soon."

Trevorrow's departure as director of the upcoming movie has been rumored since June before his film "The Book of Henry" failed to deliver at the box office, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

According to sources close to the matter, Trevorrow and Lucasfilm had disagreements about developing the script for the Star Wars film.

Jack Thorne, who wrote the script for "Wonder," the upcoming Julia Roberts-Jacob Tremblay film, was brought in to work on the new Star Wars script, The Hollywood Reporter noted.

Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller left the project in June amid conflict with producer Kathleen Kennedy, Variety reported.

"Kathy, her team and Larry Kasdan have been doing it their way for a very long time. They know how the cheese is made and that’s how they want it made," a source told Variety at the time. "It became a very polarizing set."

Ron Howard replaced Lord and Miller, The Hollywood Reporter noted. The franchise also saw shakeups in directors when Tony Gilroy took over from Gareth Edwards on 2016's "Rogue One" and Josh Trank was taken off of a Star Wars anthology film, the publication noted.
