CNN's Jake Tapper has hit back at Fox News for running a "disgusting" report regarding his comments about the recent deadly terrorist attack in New York City.
An article published by Fox News Insider on Wednesday featured the headline "CNN's Jake Tapper: 'Allahu Akbar' Can Be Said Under 'Most Beautiful' of Circumstances." The headline featured the tag "outrageous."
The article noted that Tapper publicly claimed that the Islamic phrase "Allahu akbar," which the suspect of the terrorist attack shouted out during the incident, could be said "under the most beautiful of circumstances."
"The Arabic chant 'Allahu Akbar,' God is great, sometimes is said under the most beautiful of circumstances. And too often, we hear it being said in moments like this," said Tapper, according to Fox News.
Jason Chaffetz on "The Five" criticized Tapper and other reporters for their approach to the story.
"The overwhelming majority of Muslims don't do this (terrorism), but there is this radical element that does do that, and we have to be honest about who they are and what they're doing," Chaffetz said.
Fox News also tweeted about Tapper's comments, saying, ".@CNN's Jake Tapper Says 'Allahu Akbar' Is 'Beautiful' Right After NYC Terror Attack," The Huffington Post reported, adding that the Tweet was deleted after a string of Tweets from Tapper.
Chaffetz later drew back his criticism of Tapper on Twitter.
