Cleveland police are hunting for a gunman who fatally shot a 5-year-old girl and wounded her mother over the weekend, and have now turned to the public for help in identifying the suspect.
Noni Brooks, 33, and her 5-year-old daughter Jermani were sitting in a parked car on a street in Cleveland's West Side around 11 p.m. Sunday when a man in a
green SUV pulled up, got out, and opened fire, Cleveland.com reported.
The mother and daughter were both shot in the head. Jermani Brooks was pronounced dead later at MetroHealth Medical Center. Noni Brooks was listed in fair condition as of Monday afternoon.

Police are trying to determine a possible motive for the shooting.
Surveillance footage from a camera mounted on a neighbor's garage captured the green SUV and helped police track it down on Monday morning. The search led them to a house on Kirton Avenue but the suspect was not at the home, according to Cleveland.com.
The Brooks family mourned the loss of Jermani and issued a statement Monday.
"The family would like privacy at this time during the mourning and loss of a beautiful child, Jermani Brooks, whose life was taken at such a young age," the statement read. "Please keep the family in your prayers for the recovery of her mother Noni Brooks. If anyone knows the whereabouts of the person of interest PLEASE come forward."
