"Oppenheimer" director Christopher Nolan said he "might just skip" his Peloton workout for awhile after an instructor slammed his movie "Tenet" during an online workout class.
Nolan made the remarks at the 2024 Golden Globes on Sunday while speaking about Peloton instructor Jenn Sherman's past comments.
"Nothing but love for Peloton," Nolan said in the Globes' press room, according to The Hollywood Reporter. "But I did not climb on it today. I might just skip it for a little while."
Nolan first addressed the ordeal last week, explaining how it all transpired during his speech at the New York Film Critics Circle Awards.
"I was on my Peloton doing a high-interval workout. I'm dying," he told the crowd. "The instructor started talking about one of my films and said, 'Has anyone else seen this? Because that's a couple hours of my life I'll never get back again.'"
The class in question was recorded in 2020 but recently resurfaced online.
"This song is from a soundtrack of a movie called 'Tenet,'" Sherman said in the class before going on to blast the film, saying that she needed a manual to understand it. "Seriously, you need to be a neuroscientist to understand. And that's two and a half hours of my life that I want back."
Sherman opened up about the video last week on Instagram, saying that 2020 "was a dark time."
"I may not have understood a minute of what the hell was going on in 'Tenet,'" she said, adding, "but I have seen 'Oppenheimer' twice. And that's six hours of my life that I don't ever want to give back. So, Mr. Nolan, I'm inviting you to come take a ride with me in the Peloton Studio.
"You can critique my class. We'll have a great time, you'll sit in the front row, and I promise you, it'll be insult free."
Her video prompted Nolan's Golden Globes comments.
