A fallen soldier’s newborn had a very special photo shoot that included her father’s Army division and will help loved ones remember him and his sacrifice.
Chris Harris, a specialist with the 82 Airborne Division, was killed in Afghanistan in August just a week after learning he would be a father. When his wife Britt Harris found out the baby's gender weeks later, she sent gender reveal confetti poppers to the division and Harris’s brothers in arms reacted as excitedly as her own family to the news that a girl would be born in March.
Shortly after baby Christian's birth, Britt Harris decided to do a special photo shoot involving her husband’s fellow troops, whom he considered an extended family, CBS News reported. About 20 of them showed up to take part in the shoot when they were home on leave.
“Knowing we would come home to a baby girl, that was awesome,” Sgt. Nathan Arthur Bagley told WTVD. “When everyone came home, that was the day she was born so that made it ten times better.”
Britt Harris said Christian has her father’s blue eyes, and her husband's mother agreed.
“When she was born, it was like I was looking at my own son,” Sue Kolean said, WTVD reported.
A photo of Christian Harris being held by uniformed soldiers from the division was shared on Facebook by Pinehurst Photography on Tuesday with the caption, “Sometimes all we need to soothe our soul and ease our burdens is the loving hand of a friend gently touching our heart and lifting us toward love—Mimi Novac.”
