New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he likes his present station in life and has no interest in joining a Mitt Romney administration, according to the
Bergen County Record.
The Republican governor, one of Romney's earliest and most vocal supporters, told reporters Thursday he enjoys being governor and would not accept an appointment as U.S. attorney general if offered by a President Romney.
Christie was the chief U.S. attorney in New Jersey for six years before he was elected governor in 2009.
Of course, the newspaper noted, Christie's statement of no interest at this stage of his life doesn't rule out the possibility that he might willing to serve a President Romney in some capacity in the future. Christie has not yet announced whether he intends to seek a second term as governor next year.
Right now, the governor said, he wants to fulfill his commitment to serving his first term, which would end in January, 2014.
According to the Record, Christie also stressed that "he was telling the truth when he said he didn't want to run for president and didn't want to be vice president."
