A child reportedly destroyed more than $1,000 in makeup at a Sephora store and a viral Facebook post about the incident brought a thunderclap of comments about proper parenting.

Makeup artist Brittany Nelson posted a picture of the damage on Nov. 11 on her Facebook page – Extraordinary Life Makeup Artistry – that she took the Sephora location in Augusta, Georgia, website Insider.com reported.

"Mammas, please shop for your makeup without your tiny humans," Nelson said on Facebook. "It's not fun for you...or them...or the expensive product. Anna Heath and I about passed out when we saw this atrocity. … It looked 100 (times) worse in real life and I don't work for Sephora. I was just walking in as the mom/kid were hustling out of there."

The post seemed to strike a chord with many on social media who complained that parents don't do enough to make their children behave in public. The online comments trended to an overall commentary on parenting in general.

Some online, though, questioned the story, charging that the damage makeup containers were too high for a child to reach.
