Parents Kim Kardashian and Kanye West announced Friday their new daughter’s name will be Chicago West, posting the name on Twitter and on Kardashian's website.
The couple has not given a reason for the name choice, but West grew up in Chicago before moving to Los Angeles after a few years of college to pursue a rap and hip-hop career.
Chicago West was born to a surrogate on Jan. 15 and joins sister North, 4½, and brother Saint, age 2.
Another tweet from Kardashian said simply “North, Saint & Chi,” which is apparently pronounced “shy,” a reply retweeted by Kardashian said.
The Wests have been open about their difficulty in coming up with a name for the newest addition, with Kardashian telling Ellen DeGeneres, “At the baby shower, I was like, ‘I just want everyone to write a name on a little tile and see if there is something that sticks,’” People reported. “We’re freaking out, we have no name.”
In the first hour after posting, the tweet about the newest member of the West family got over 2,400 comments and 42,000 likes.
