After a student recorded the incident on his cell phone, a Chicago-area substitute teacher is under investigation for reportedly helping his classmates bully him.
CBS News reported that Stephen Davis, a 330-pound freshman at suburban Streamwood High School, is used to being picked on, but he couldn't take the harassment from an adult.
"I was literally livid," he said Friday,
according to DailyHerald.com. "This is the first time the teacher has actually done it."
The incident began with one student drawing an ugly portrait meant to depict Davis on an electronic chalkboard. That's when Davis pulled out his phone and started filming.
As the student misspelled Davis' name next to the portrait, Davis tells him he got it wrong. That's when the teacher stepped in. Instead of stopping the harassment, the substitute math teacher joined in.
He added the words "Stephen's ugly a**" next to the drawing.
When Davis got home, his parents were appalled by the video. Davis uploaded it to YouTube, and his sister posted the link on a Facebook page called "School District U-46 Uncensored."
U-46 superintendent responded directly to the Facebook post, writing, "immediate and appropriate action was taken early this morning pending the outcome of our investigation."
