Chelsea O’Donnell, the adopted daughter of Rosie O’Donnell, spoke out for the first time about her strained relationship with the comedian in an
exclusive interview with the Daily Mail on Tuesday in which she stated that Rosie kicked her out of the house.
The 18-year-old, who is now estranged from her celebrity adopted mother, told the U.K. newspaper that Rosie O'Donnell was largely absent in her life and, contrary to her bubbly TV persona, is actually a “phony” who spends a good chunk of her time isolating herself in a home she purchased from her neighbors, making arts and crafts, blasting Madonna music, and smoking weed.
“I find her not genuine a lot of the time. When we'd go out, she was a completely different person in public than at home and I had a hard time with that. It's like two different people,” Chelsea O'Donnell told the Daily Mail.
What's more, the teen denies that she ran away from the family's home in August and insists Rosie actually
kicked her out, according to Gossip Cop.
After leaving the home, Chelsea O'Donnell moved in with a man she met online, Steve Sheerer, in
New Jersey, according to CBS News. She has also reportedly established contact with her biological mother, Deanna Micolley.
Rosie’s representative issued a statement to ET Online as a response to Chelsea’s allegations, saying that the interview with the Daily Mail is “heartbreaking on every level.”
The teen also told the Daily Mail that life with Rosie and her two ex-wives left her to be “pretty much raised by nannies,” to the point where Chelsea felt much closer to two of her nannies instead of her adoptive mother.
