Chelsea Handler CBS: Comedienne Dispels 'Late Show' Rumors (Video)

By    |   Friday, 18 April 2014 08:15 AM EDT

Chelsea Handler is putting to rest all those CBS rumors that had the foul-mouthed comedienne replacing David Letterman, who announced earlier this month that he would be retiring as host of "The Late Show" in 2015.

"I would never go to CBS," Handler said on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show" this week. "My mouth? What would they do with me there? I would never be on a regular network. I would never do that to my fans or to myself or to the network."

The rumor was similarly dismissed by CBS, which released a statement earlier this week that read, "There are no discussions with Chelsea Handler regarding the network's 12:30 late night broadcast."

The gossip started this week after Handler tweeted a picture of her dog sitting on her lap while she held what appeared to be a manuscript with CBS' logo on it. That, coupled with the recent news that Handler will be ending her current gig on E!'s "Chelsea Lately," really got the rumor mill churning.

DeGeneres later asked if Handler's cursing would affect her as a potential CBS talk show host.

"I enjoy bad things," Handler said. "I'm a bad girl, and who wants to reel me — I mean, I wouldn't want to reel me in, that wouldn't be fun for anyone."

DeGeneres then asked Handler about the fast-approaching end of her show "Chelsea Lately," which has aired for eight seasons, and whether the decision was hers.

"Well, yea, I think it’s time to move on," Handler said. "I want a vacation and sleep, you know."

Handler also said she wouldn't consider taking Letterman replacement Stephen Colbert's soon-to-be-vacated spot on Comedy Central.

"I don’t want to take a job that somebody else has already done," Handler told DeGeneres. "I like to do jobs that no one has ever done . . .   Because I like to kinda create my own thing."
