The Cheerio Challenge arrived just in time for Father's Day, proving once and for all that dads are serious parents — seriously competitive, ridiculous, and sweet, that is.
Patrick Quinn of the Life of Dad parenting site launched the challenge on Facebook after being trapped beneath his sleeping 3-week-old son with nothing to do but pile breakfast food on the infant's face.
"I'd take a picture but then I'd start laughing and it'd topple over," Quinn
told CNN. "So I'd start again, take a picture and it'd topple over. The highest I got to is five."
He had so much fun he decided to post a photo on Facebook, calling other parents to the challenge.
The post has been shared almost 31,000 times, and photos of children covered in cereal have now flooded the internet along with the hashtag #CheerioChallenge.
"It's pretty bananas how it took off," Quinn told CNN.
The Life of Dad website posted some of its favorite responses.
One challenger impressively stacked six Cheerios on the nose of a wide-awake infant.
Others went for multiple stacks.
A champion hasn't been declared, but it looks like the tallest stacks approach 20 Cheerios.
Hilariously, some posters reversed the trend, with Cheerios stacked atop fathers.
