CES 2015 Features Products of 'Science Fact,' Not Science Fiction

The Consumer Electronics Show 2015 is offering a thrill a minute for techies, featuring an impressive mix of futuristic technology and innovations consumers will see soon.

The record-breaking show kicked off Tuesday with 3,600 exhibitors and 2.2 million square feet of exhibit space.

In the keynote, Samsung President/CEO Boo-Keun Yoon talked about a world that will someday be fully connected, which he called “science fact,” not science fiction, a CES news release said. Calling it the Internet of Things (IoT), Yoon talked about “TVs that automatically pause when you leave the room, wearables that monitor brain waves to track biometric data and music systems that seamlessly transition from your home speakers to your headphones,” CES said.

And attendees at the CES 2015 were then impressed with the amazing technological advances being predicted or already here.

Mercedes leader Gary Shapiro made a surprise appearance at the show in the sleek Mercedes-Benz FO15 concept car that drew gasps.

“Many ‘concept cars’ of our times are just thinly disguised production cars,” the New York Daily News said. “This aero-shaped monolith is a dream car in the classic sense. Powered by two electric motors and designed for fuel cell technology, it cranks out up to 272-horsepower, with a sustained output of 163-horsepower.”

The car also can drive itself, if the driver so desires.

Outside the car arena, 3-D printing was huge, and PC Magazine picked out 24 of the top products in the electronics department. Those included a Lenovo smartwatch, the LG G 2 Flex phone, and even a patch that can be put on babies and wirelessly send the child’s temperature for monitoring.
