A 68-year-old woman was injured in a 30-foot fall from the roof of Wells Cathedral in England on Tuesday, becoming wedged between two turrets and triggering a helicopter rescue.
The woman sustained injuries to her arms and pelvis in the fall, which occurred during a guided
tour of the more hidden areas of the cathedral, according to The Telegraph.

"You go up inside the cathedral, we would go up through a number of spiral staircases, and reach some of the roof spaces,” Cathedral Administrator Paul Richards said, according to The Telegraph. "I think there was an unfortunate point, I don't know exactly how it happened, but she slipped through some gaps that meant she fell down to a floor level slightly below."
The woman was trapped for three hours between two walls in the cathedral’s bell tower before being winched to a rescue helicopter and
airlifted to Frenchay Hospital near Bristol, the BBC reported.
A doctor rappelled down to treat the woman before emergency workers used a system of ropes to
lift her to the roof, where she was hoisted onto the helicopter, according to The Mirror.
Numerous agencies helped with the rescue, including Wiltshire Air Ambulance, which posted about the incident on Twitter.
Tours are canceled while a review of the incident is underway.
