A cat herder is wanted for the purrfect job on a Greek island, according to an ad posted to Facebook last week offering an opportunity to care for dozens of felines while soaking up the rays in paradise.
God's Little People Cat Rescue, a non-profit located on the Greek island of Syros, announced that it was looking to hire a caretaker to look after nearly 60 of its rescued cats.
Syros is a cosmopolitan island punctuated with quaint villages, pristine beaches and plush natural scenery, according to a website about the island.
Tourists are willing to empty their bank accounts to go there, for a holiday so imagine being paid to live on the island taking care of cats. It sounds like a dream come true but that is not all.
According to the job posting, the right candidate for the job will be living rent free in a semidetached modern house with its own garden and direct view of the Aegean Sea and, if that is not enough, the job entails about four hours of work a day.
The rest of the time the caretaker will be able to explore the secluded nature preserve where the sanctuary is located.
"You'll no doubt thrive best if you are the type of person who appreciates nature and likes tranquility - and rest comfortably in your own company," the job posting said. "That said, you'll never feel lonely in the company of the cats and you'll be expected to live with a small handful of cats in your house"
The cat sanctuary has already been inundated by people across the globe applying for the position.
