A car was accidentally stolen in Portland, Oregon Tuesday, according to a detailed note that was left behind.

An Oregon woman returned a red Subaru on Wednesday and left an apology note along with $30 in gas money after the car was accidentally stolen Tuesday night, according to The Guardian.

Erin Hatzi, the owner of the Subaru, woke up Wednesday morning to find her vehicle missing from her driveway.

Thanks to security cameras outside of Hatzi’s home, she was able to see what happened in the surveillance footage. The footage showed a woman walk up to the Subaru, unlock it and then get inside, The Guardian noted.

The woman then sat in the car for a bit before pulling out of the driveway and driving off.

Hatzi reported the situation to the police, but by Wednesday afternoon the car was back in her possession. She posted a Facebook picture of the note and gas money that she found on the driver’s seat.

“Hello, so sorry I stole your car,” the note read.

“I sent my friend with my key to pick up my red Subaru at 7802 SE Woodstock and she came back with your car. I did not see the car until this afternoon and I said, ‘That is not my car.’”

“There is some cash for gas and I more than apologize for the shock and upset this must have caused you. If you need to speak further with me, I am Bernadett and my number is [Hatzi also blurred this out]. So sorry for this mistake.”

Hatzi told KGW, a Portland news station, that something seemed very unordinary about the whole situation, and that the lady who left the note didn’t sound like the typical car thief.

“We were really confused because it didn’t seem like the normal actions of a car thief,” Hatzi said. “You wouldn’t think they’d sit there in idle in the owner’s driveway for two or three minutes.”

According to CBS News, Hatzi’s husband first discovered that the car was gone, but he just assumed that she wasn’t home until he walked in their house and she was just as surprised as he was that the car was missing.

When he asked her where she had parked, she responded, “In the driveway,” as she looked confused by the question.

Her husband then replied, “Nope!”

An officer later explained that in some older Subarus, the keys can be interchangeable
