"Fuller House" star Candace Cameron Bure is not afraid to talk about her faith and how it has shaped her as a star. Being Christian in Hollywood is not always easy, but Candace has remained firm in her beliefs. They have helped her navigate her career and kept her on the right path, even when it meant making difficult choices.
Speaking with Fox News in an interview published Wednesday, Cameron Bure opened up about her faith and how it has influenced her career and the films she chooses to star in.
"I live by faith in everything, in everything that I do, and every aspect of my life," she said. "So it's not just something that I rely on or is a crutch. I mean, it is genuinely who I am. How it helps me? It's hard to say because it's just a part of my being."
Cameron Bure revealed that she has had to pass on several films because they did not align with her core beliefs. It was not always an easy decision to make.
"I've had a lot of those, passing on projects, saying no to projects because they didn't feel right for me. And a lot of those were because of the boundaries that I've created for myself within the choices I knew I was going to make. And some of them were really easy to pass on," she shared.
"Some of them, it hurt, definitely. There's some that I've wanted, and you're like, 'Ugh, it's not so bad.' But in my heart, I'm like, 'But it's not right for me,'" Cameron Bure continued. "And that is what I've always trusted, that if I can't walk away having done something and be super proud of it, or if I have any sort of red flag in my heart that I may have regret over this, even again, if it's not this thing that seems bad to everyone, but in my spirit, it doesn't feel right, I just know that's made it easier to make that decision to stay true to who I am."
Things have not always been easy for Candace. In an interview on Friday with Fox News, she opened up about her eating disorder and the long journey to overcome it. She turned to food for comfort when she moved to Montreal, Canada, to be with her husband Valeri, who was a professional hockey player.
Filming for "Full House" had wrapped up after airing from 1987 to 1995 and Cameron Bure was battling feelings of loneliness while her husband spent a large portion of the hockey season away. She began to comfort eat, but soon her unhealthy eating patterns turned into an eating disorder.
It was through faith and the support of her family that Cameron Bure eventually found the strength to overcome it. Now, she is healthier and happier than ever before, and it shows as she appears in the show's reboot, "Fuller House," which premiered on Netflix in 2016.
Speaking about her faith, Cameron Bure explained to Fox that it was the foundation of who she was.
"The Bible to me is truth," she said. "I can always go back to the word of God and find the hope, the encouragement, the positivity, the trust that I know I have in Jesus. And so it never fails, even when life doesn't go the way I want it to or had planned it to. I know that God's in control of everything."
