Bruno Mars may have set a new trend this week when he performed on "The Voice" finale wearing gold hot rollers in his hair.
The pop star also sports the look in the video for his latest single, "Uptown Funk," a collaboration with Mark Ronson in which Mars sings from a
barber shop, the Daily Mail reported.
The song is Ronson's first No. 1 song in the Official Singles Chart, the U.K. newspaper noted.
"This is my first No. 1 single as an artist or producer so I just want to thank everyone who bought, downloaded or DJ'd Uptown Funk this past week," Ronson said.
Hollywood Life compared Mars' hot roller look to that of Bradley Cooper’s character in the 2013 film "American Hustle."
"Could this be the next big beauty trend?" Hollywood Life wondered. The site quoted an unnamed source explaining Mars’ motivation for wearing the curlers: "He thought that the look was very cool and funky, and he wanted to pay homage to the time of this type of music of the '70s, plus he did the same thing in the music video so he wanted the performance and the music video to mesh and just look cool. He really likes the look and may continue it."
The performance got widespread attention on Twitter.
