Brittany Maynard's Assisted Suicide to Be Put Off? (Video)

Brittany Maynard may not end her own life on Nov. 1, as the terminally ill 29-year-old has previously told the world.

"If November 2nd comes along and I've passed, I hope my family is still proud of me and the choices I made," she says in a new video released Wednesday via People magazine.

"And if November 2nd comes along and I'm still alive, I know that we'll just still be moving forward as a family, like, out of love for each other and that that decision will come later."

Diagnosed with terminal brain cancer in April, Maynard, her husband Dan Diaz, her mother Debbie Ziegler, and her stepfather Gary Holmes moved to Oregon to take advantage of its special law that allows people in her situation to access assisted-suicide via a lethal dose of medicine.

Maynard has gone public with her story as part of a campaign to bring so-called "Death with Dignity" laws to other states, and eventually, the whole country.

Last week, she checked the last item off her bucket list when she visited the Grand Canyon, but with the release of the new video she makes it clear that a November 1 death date is not a certainty.

During the update video, she also talks about her thoughts about family and friends, and shares intimate details about her worsening condition. She discusses seizures that leave her unable to speak and remember simple things, as well as not fully recognizing herself in the mirror due to her rapid weight gain from all the medication.

"If all my dreams came true, I would somehow survive this but I most likely won't," she says. "So beyond that, having been an only child for my mother, I want her to recover from this and not break down, not suffer from any kind of depression."

She also said she wants her husband to grieve, move on, and become a father.

"I want him to be happy, so I want him to have a family. There's no part of me that wants him to live out the rest of his life just missing his wife."
