Bristol Palin revealed on Monday that she's having a girl and showed off her 7.5-month baby bump on social media.
Palin, the daughter of former Republican vice presidential candidate and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, posted a photo of herself on Instagram, said
Us Weekly.
Palin said she was pregnant in June shortly after breaking off her engagement to U.S. Marine Corps veteran and Medal of Honor recipient Dakota Meyer, said
People magazine.
Palin is the mother of a six-year-old son, Tripp, who she had with high school boyfriend and ex-fiancé Levi Johnston. She was pregnant with her son during the 2008 presidential election when her mother was tapped by U.S. Sen. John McCain to be his presidential running mate.
"Honestly, I've been trying my hardest to keep my chin up on this one," Palin said in
her blog this summer, noted Us Weekly. "I know this has been, and will be, a huge disappointment to my family, to my close friends, and to many of you. But please respect Tripp's and my privacy during this time. I do not want any lectures and I do not want any sympathy."
Palin has been writing on a number of hot-button topics, commenting earlier this month about allowing girls to receive birth control.
"You have to get a parents approval to take aspirin or ibuprofen at school, you have to have your parents present to go tanning in a tanning bed, or get your eye brows waxed, or get your belly button or ears pierced. But girls as young as 10 – YES I SAID 10 – can get an IUD put in without their parents knowing?" Palin wrote.
In an Oct. 1 blog post, Palin defended her mother in relation to one of Hillary Clinton's released emails. Clinton is the leading Democratic presidential candidate.
"The liberals like Hillary Clinton would have you believe all sorts of lies about my mother," she blogged. "But, behind closed doors, we find out all sorts of truths, including the fact that Hillary fears my mom's power."
"Maybe that's because she knows deep down that millions of Americans know that what my mom talks about in public is right and what Hillary pretends to stand for is wrong,"
