A Florida boy stuck inside an arcade machine claw game at a restaurant was rescued Wednesday evening after climbed inside trying to get a toy.
The boy, identified as Mason, climbed into the claw machine in Titusville, Florida, while eating dinner with his family, the Orlando Sentinel reported. He went in through the opening where toys come out and couldn't get back through it to exit the machine.
Off-duty firefighter Jeremy House also was eating at the Beef O’Brady’s restaurant when he noticed the boy inside the machine and yelled for others to call 911 while he tried to rescue the boy, the Sentinel reported.
When more firefighters from House’s fire station arrived on the scene, they were able to rescue the boy within about five minutes. He was embarrassed, but he quickly went back to eating after he was rescued, the Sentinel reported.
“He went in, but obviously he couldn’t come back out the same way,” Battalion Chief Gregory Sutton said, the Sentinel reported.
Frefighters had to pry the machine open to get Mason out, but managed not to cause major damage to the machine, USA Today reported. The boy reportedly got the stuffed football he'd been after along with a few other toys as he left the machine.
“Thankfully he was never in any distress as one of our own Lt.’s [happened] to be there off duty,” Titusville Fire and Emergency Services posted on Facebook after the incident.
