A 12-year-old Boy Scout shot himself in the head at a camp with his troop at the Fiesta Island Youth Camp in California, and officials believe it was a suicide.
The boy was found in his tent alone with a
gunshot wound to the head about 7:35 Monday morning, NBC San Diego reported. Paramedics were called to the scene and were unable to revive him.

The boy’s father was at the camp and investigators were meeting with him. Crisis counselors were being called in to talk with the other Boy Scouts.
"Mental health is foremost in our minds and to make sure the children are taken care of, of course, after this terrible tragedy,"
Lt. Mike Hastings, a homicide officer, told the San Diego Union-Tribune.
The Las Vegas troop got to the camp Sunday night, with plans to stay until Saturday. NBC San Diego said there are no reports the camp will be called off and parents had not been called to pick up their children by Monday afternoon.
Bob Jones, who came to the camp during the morning to drop off something for his 12-year-old grandson, told NBC San Diego that he was worried about how such a tragedy would affect his grandson, who is autistic.
"I know this will affect him emotionally so I would just like to be there for him," Jones said. "I'd like to get some word to him if I can."
"This is an extremely sad day for our entire scouting family," Boy Scouts of America said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with the families and all those who experienced this tragedy. Our top priority is providing support to our community and for those in the grieving process."
