A 10-year-old boy was found dead inside a dryer at a Texas apartment complex Friday night.

Fernando Hernandez Jr. was engaged in “Nerf gun wars” and was playing hide-and-seek with friends and his 9-year-old brother, the boy's mother told KTRK

"I don't know what happened. I was just inside cooking, and my little son came inside and told me my son was dead on the floor," the boy’s mother, Christina Rodriguez, told the news station.

"My boyfriend picked him up and brought him into the house," she continued. "He was purple and his eyes were open and he was gone."

Investigators arrived at the Houston residence at about 6 p.m. Friday, and paramedics performed CPR. They boy was later taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

A subsequent autopsy performed by the Harris County Medical Examiner’s office revealed the boy died from electrocution, KTRK reported.

According to his mother, the victim was a third-grade student at Harris Elementary School.
