A 23-year-old amateur bowler completed a perfect game in under 90 seconds on April 5, setting what is believed to be a new world record.
Ben Ketola works in a bowling alley in Courtland, New York, and bowls at least 50 games a week, averaging 225 in his scores, according to Yahoo Sports. He decided to set up all 10 lanes at the alley where he works, 281 Bowl, and try to bowl strikes as fast as he could.
After four attempts, Ketola bowled a perfect game across all 10 lanes in only 86.9 seconds, which Syracuse.com is calling a world record, although there is no official category for what Ketola did because he used different lanes instead of staying in the same one.
Ketola bowls two handed and has a sizeable hook, but video shows him handling the 12 strikes without even looking like he broke a sweat, running from one alley to the next without even stopping to look at whether he bowled a strike for many of the attempts.
“It was fun to do. I honestly wasn’t expecting to do it,” Ketola said, Syracuse.com reported. “I just wanted to see how quickly I could get across the house and get strikes. Ketola said he was inspired to try the feat by a YouTube video by Tom Dougherty, a professional bowler who bowled a perfect game over 12 lanes in 1 minute, 50.99 seconds.
Twitter fans were impressed by his efficiency and speed.
