Bounce House Colorado: Inflatable Slide Blows Away With Kids Inside

A children's inflatable bounce house got snatched up by the wind Sunday, injuring two children trapped inside as it rolled several hundred feet across a Colorado plain.

It was "like a bag in the wind," one bystander, Desiree Hunter, told NBC 9 News Denver.

Roughly 10,000 people had gathered for the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Jamboree when the bouncy slide succumbed to 30 mph winds, and lifted from its stakes.

"The bouncy house went right through where all the players were standing and then the hill goes down towards the pond," said local woman Aleah Horstman. The bounce house luckily stopped short of the nearby pond.

"We're on the sidelines of the parents watching the game and then out of the side saw the bouncy house come over and everybody running for it to get out of the way."

Witnesses said that one of the children, a girl, fell out almost as soon as the bounce house started to roll, being dropped from roughly 8 feet in the air. She was treated on site and release nearly immediately.

The boy inside the inflatable house was carried for the full duration of the roll — 200 to 300 feet — and taken by ambulance to a medical facility. He did not sustain any serious injuries, said reporters.

"They said that he just looked really beat up and shook up," said Horstman.

"It was pretty horrific and scary and you just freeze in the moment," said Vannessa Atencio, another witness. "I hope the family and everyone's okay and we're praying for a good recovery."

The runaway bouncy house is the second reported this year after one such house in New York was carried 50 feet into the air over a stretch of woods, injuring three children in the process.
