A new book is spilling all the juicy secrets of "The View" and there is little any of the show's hosts can do to stop the controversy from leaking. In her tell-all book due out Tuesday, Variety’s New York Bureau Chief Ramin Setoodeh dishes the dirt on exactly what went on behind the scenes during the show’s glory years, USA Today reported.
Over the last few weeks, excerpts from "Ladies Who Punch: The Explosive Inside Story of 'The View,'" have been making headlines and rehashing long standing tiffs between former colleagues. Just last week it emerged that Rosie O'Donnell thought her co-host Whoopi Goldberg was "meaner than anyone has ever been" to her on the show, People noted.
Several other startling revelations surrounding 'The View' have now surfaced ahead of the book's official release and here are some of the most shocking secrets to be spilled, as per USA Today.
1. Rosie 'O'Donnell's tenure on ''The View' was anything but smooth sailing, according to her colleagues who claimed she waltzed in and took over from day one.
2. Elisabeth Hasselbeck was convinced her colleagues were ganging up on her. When she was fired in 2013, after ten years on 'The View,' the anxiety allegedly caused her to suffer an asthma attack.
3. Star Jones shocked colleagues when she announced her departure -- on air. The move was not by choice, but ABC reportedly did not have the courage to tell her she was being axed.
4. Jenny McCarthy said she was utterly "miserable" on the show and claimed that Barbara Walters was out of touch with pop culture.
5. Joy Behar was nearly fired after she accidently let slip of O'Donnell's return to the 'The View' when chatting to a media outlet despite multiple warnings to keep the news under wraps.
