A bombing Monday at a Kano, Nigeria, college killed at least eight people and wounded 20 others.
The Kano State School of Hygiene was shaken by the blast that tore apart an area near the main gate, a popular gathering area for students between classes.

Police weren’t sure if
Islamist militants were behind the college bombing, Reuters said. Numerous attacks are occurring in the north, where the Boko Haram militant group is active. They are the group that claimed responsibility for kidnapping more than 200 girls from a school in northeast Nigeria.
Police are questioning one suspect in the school bombing, Reuters said.
Ynaija reported that it was a suicide bombing and one of the eight killed was the bomber. The Nigerian newspaper said the school was holding a screening for new students and that most of those killed were in that group.
“Every lead seems to point at suicide bombing, unlike our previous experience none of the vehicles parked inside this school caught fire and there is no hole around to suggest a car bombing but all leads are still open for investigation,” police commissioner Adelenre Shinaba told Ynaija.
One woman who was there posted on twitter:
Reuters said many terrified people in downtown Kano left the area after the blast, which destroyed cars near the school.
Other deadly attacks, these attributed to Boko Haram, were
reported Monday by the BBC, which said dozens of villagers were apparently killed over the weekend.
