Bob Hope's 5.2-acre estate in Toluca Lake is up for sale for $23 million.
The main 15,000-square-foot house was built in 1939 and renovated in the
1950s, the Los Angeles Times reported.
It was designed by architect Richard Finkelhor, who designed homes for other celebrities, including Barbara Stanwyck, Zeppo Marx, and Harpo Marx. The property includes a rose garden, a one-hole, three-par golf course with a sand trap and a swimming pool, a pool house, and a 4,000-square-foot secondary house.
The property was previously listed for $27.5 million in 2013 and taken off the market last year after the price was reduced to $21.8 million, the Times said.
"This is an unparalleled opportunity to own one of the most iconic and devotedly cared-for estates in Los Angeles," Craig Strong of the John Aaroe Group, which is
handling the sale, said, according to the Los Angeles Daily News.
A second mansion owned by the late comedian is also
on the market in Palm Springs, Forbes reported.
The two homes couldn’t be more different, with the space-age Palm Springs home resembling a mushroom or a UFO and the Toluca Lake home being an
English traditional home, according to Yahoo Homes.
Listing agent Strong has done voiceover work for shows including "Rugrats," "Powerpuff Girls," and "My Little Pony," Forbes said.
Hope died in 2003 at age 100. His wife, Delores, died in 2011 at age 102.
