A rare blue lobster was caught by a 14-year-old girl and her father in Maine this past weekend — a roughly 1 in 2 million chance event.
"It definitely stood out," said Jay LaPlante, who's been teaching his daughter Meghan to catch and sell lobsters for the past eight years. The girl
told the Portland Press Herald that the blue crustacean will be donated to the Maine State Aquarium in West Boothbay Harbor on Tuesday.
Meghan named the lobster "Skyler," which is her favorite name, and said that it's currently being stored in a separate aquarium for now, as lobsters are prone to cannibalism, and she doesn't want Skyler to become a snack for the others.

Meghan is licensed to set out 150 traps at a time, and often sells her lobsters from the driveway of her family home, which is on a busy thoroughfare. The name of her business is Miss Meghan Lobster Catch, and she expects to ramp it up even further soon.
She's eligible to move up from a student license to a commercial license next year, now that she has over 1,000 hours of lobstering to her name. With the commercial license, she's allowed to have up to 300 traps.
Skyler will join three other lobsters in the blue lobster tank once it's moved to the public aquarium,
according to the WCSH-TV. The station did an expose on the enterprising 14-year-old just two years ago.
