Blink 182's bassist and vocalist Mark Hoppus has shared a health update amid his cancer battle.
The musician announced last week that he has been undergoing chemotherapy for the last three months and has now spoken openly about how it has been affecting him.
"I feel much better than yesterday," he told fans during a game of bingo on Twitch, according to Absolute Radio. "Yesterday was hellish for me and I woke up today feeling better - I went for a walk, and I had a decent breakfast, and I haven’t felt like I was going to throw up today, so we’ll take it as a win."
Hoppus revealed that Sunday was the first time he had left the house in several days. Previous rounds of chemotherapy had left him feeling "like a poisoned electrified zombie leaning up against an electric fence," but the latest round did not impact him as negatively.
"This round of chemo I wasn’t totally stuck on the couch, miserable. I’ve actually watched movies and walked around and cleaned the house and hung out with my dogs," he said.
Since sharing news of his diagnoses, fans have been wondering if Blink 182 would be releasing its highly anticipated new album and whether they would see the band on stage any time soon, but Hoppus explained that, because of the chemotherapy, there were very few places he could go.
"I can’t go anywhere right now. I wanted to go to the Dodgers last night – I can’t. I want to go hang out with friends and go to a restaurant – I can’t," he said. "My white blood cell count is way too low for me to go out so I am stuck trying to get better. That’s alright, I’ll take it."
Hoppus first shared his diagnosis on Wednesday on social media. He did not specify what cancer he was battling but said he was feeling positive about the outcome.
"It sucks and I’m scared, and at the same time I’m blessed with incredible doctors and family and friends to get me through this," he wrote in a tweet. "I still have months of treatment ahead of me but I’m trying to remain hopeful and positive. Can’t wait to be cancer free and see you all at a concert in the near future."
Hoppus also shared a photo on his Instagram Story of himself hooked up to an IV, writing "Yes hello. One cancer treatment please," according to Today.
