Bill Nye: Evolution Explained for Today's Kids — in Emoji (Video)

By    |   Tuesday, 16 December 2014 05:36 PM EST

Bill Nye teamed up with Mashable on a video that incorporates emojis in explaining evolution.

The video has been viewed more than 1 million times.

“It's clear that kids these days speak a whole different language, what with their Google-y Docs and Tinder snaps,” Mashable editor Eric Larson wrote. “In an effort to save them, we asked Bill Nye to break down the basic concepts of evolution using only emoji. You're welcome, Generation Z.”

Gizmodo praised the video, saying, “It's good to see, through videos like this, that he's retaining some of the magic enthusiasm that helped teach millions of kids about science.”

Nye often speaks about evolution, debating creationist Ken Ham in February and recently releasing a book, "Undeniable: Evolution and the Science of Creation."

Nye explained his focus on younger audiences in an article in People.

"It's about the future," Nye said. "The next generation. People who are going to do the next thing after the iPhone, the people who are going to desalinate water with lower energy costs than we have now. Those people, that's who I'm writing for."

Fans praised the video on Twitter.
