Bill Murray hijinks were in full swing at the John Deere Classic Pro-am golf tournament this week when he called St. Louis Cardinals fans "Satan’s messengers on Earth."

The Chicago Sun-Times reported that Murray was bantering with spectators, asking them if they'd seen that his beloved Cubs had swept St. Louis in a double-header on Tuesday.

"Did you happen to see the two games yesterday at Wrigley Field?" he asked a small crowd.

One woman replied that she was a Cards fan.

"Oh that's your team? No wonder there's something coming off of your body like an ectoplasmic phosphorous," said the former "Ghostbusters" star, shortly before referring to the rival team as "Satan's messengers on Earth."

"And then it turns out your team is cheaters, too," he added, alluding to the team's computer hacking scandal.

After a few more holes, Murray encountered a boy wearing a Cardinals hat.

"Are you a Cardinals fan?" Murray asked. "Get out of here. Rotten kid!"

A few fans captured the day in photographs, and shared them on Twitter for everyone's enjoyment.
