Beyoncé Knowles, who led all nominations at the BET Awards last year, is dominating again this year, joined by ther sister Solange, Bruno Mars, Migos, Big Sean and others.
Knowles is “the most nominated and winning artist” in the history of the Black Entertainment Television Awards which have graced the small screen for nearly 20 years, noted the Los Angeles Times.
The “Lemonade” singer, who’s expecting twins soon, was nominated for seven at the 2017 BET Awards to be held in Los Angeles at the Microsoft Theater on June 25, reported The Associated Press.
Mars, who released his latest album “24K Magic” last year, is right behind Knowles with five nominations of his own. Solange has four nominations this year after taking the music industry by storm last year with her “A Seat at the Table” album, the AP noted.
Solange will actually be competing for three awards against her big sister – Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Video of the Year and Album of the Year, according to ABC News.
Some of the other A-list stars nominated for BET honors this year include Chris Brown, The Weeknd, Usher and Trey Songz, who will each be competing for the Best Male R&B/Pop Artist award.
The solo artists always receive much of the spotlight at these awards shows, but you can’t forget about the Best Group category, which features some heavy hitters this year, including 2 Chainz and Lil Wayne, A Tribe Called Quest, and Fat Joe and Remy Ma.
