The Bermuda incident that left Mark Dombroski dead earlier this week continued to be investigated, but authorities said Thursday there are no signs of foul play and indications are he fell to his death.

Dombroski, 19, a student at Philadelphia's St. Joseph's University and a member of the school's rugby team, was found dead Monday after disappearing early Sunday after leaving a bar, WCAU-TV reported. The rugby team was participating in a tournament on the island.

A search started later Sunday when he did not appear for the team's return flight back home and his body was found the next day at the bottom of an empty moat of an abandoned, colonial-era fort, 35 feet down from ground level.

"I found no evidence of foul play in my postmortem examination," Dr. Christopher Milroy, an independent pathologist, said in a news conference Thursday, adding that the injuries were consistent with a fall from a high point, WCAU-TV said.

A toxicology report was pending.

Police superintendent Sean Field-Lament said at the news conference, though, that he has not come to any conclusions on the case, even though Dombroski's wallet and cellphone were found on his body, Philly.com reported.

"We have an open mind," Field-Lament told reporters, per Philly.com. "Nothing has been ruled out. We work on facts. We all want to get to the bottom of what happened to Mark. Having speculation passed around and unsubstantiated reports made is not helpful. If you want to help us, contact us."

Field-Lament comments were meant to address social media rumors that Dombroski had been found bound and tied up, which he said were false claims, per Philly.com.

Dombroski and his teammates spent Saturday night at the Dog House, a bar on the waterfront in Hamilton, but he left alone shortly after midnight, police said, per Philly.com. Authorities said that a camera recorded him using his cellphone about 1.5 miles from the bar about 1:15 a.m. Sunday.

His family reported the teenager missing at 9:39 a.m. Sunday with the team scheduled to return home later that day.

The rugby team announced on social media that there will be a Mass and prayer service to honor Dombroski on Sunday.
