Beijing officials have ordered the demolition of a mountainous rooftop villa on top of a 26-story residential building after it was found to be built illegally.
Professor Zhang Biqing reportedly began construction on the sprawling villa, which features fake rocks, trees, and bushes, in 2007 after purchasing the building's penthouse, but now must tear down the structure after neighbor complaints.

"It's very noisy and they are always bringing rocks and things up the elevator,"
Zhang Li, who lives on the 25th floor, told CNN. "It's definitely not safe. With all those boulders up there, what would happen if there was an earthquake? A lot of people have moved out from the top floors. They were afraid. They sold their apartments and got out."
Some residents also reported cracks in their ceilings that leak when it rains.
Biqing, a doctor of traditional Chinese medicine who owns a national chain of acupuncture clinics, is a former member of a district People's Political Consultative Conference, and many believe he used his connections to illegally build the rooftop villa.
"It's obvious he is powerful, there's no way he could do illegal building like that without knowing people," one neighbor told CNN. "If I had that kind of money, I would do it too."
Biqing reportedly told the Beijing Times that he would comply with the government order to tear down the villa, and defended it as "just an ornamental garden."
