Joy Behar Defends Obama’s Choice of ‘The View’ Over Netanyahu

By    |   Wednesday, 26 September 2012 02:11 PM EDT

Television personality Joy Behar has defended President Barack Obama for his decision not to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but to instead head over to ABC’s studios for an appearance on “The View.”

Behar, who also hosts a show on Current TV, evidently approves of Obama’s approach to diplomacy, despite the ongoing crisis in the Middle East and the Iranian nuclear threat.

After gushing at the mere presence of the president on the show, Behar went on to post on her Twitter account a defense of Obama’s decision.

“Obama is being bashed for doing the View instead of meeting world leaders. Maybe he'd rather talk to me than Netanyahu. Ever think of that?” Behar wrote.

Obama was in New York on Monday night for a reception, which was being held for those in attendance at a United Nations summit. Additionally, the president had a scheduled address to the Assembly that was set for Tuesday.

Although Netanyahu had requested a face-to-face visit with the president, the White House put out the claim that Obama’s schedule did not allow for a meeting; this despite the fact that the president’s only public event on Monday was the taping of the ABC talk show alongside First Lady Michelle.

At last year’s summit, Obama met face-to-face with 13 world leaders.
