Twenty-nine percent of Americans say they think Hollywood favors the pro-choice position on abortion, according to the results of a new survey released this week.

That compared with 25 percent who said that the film industry takes the pro-life position when it comes to abortion on film, according to a poll by Barna Group Inc., a Christian research firm based in Ventura, Calif.

The poll results were disclosed by The Hollywood Reporter.

The responses, however, differ by age.

Among baby boomers, ages 52 to 70, 36 percent say Hollywood is more pro-choice – compared with 13 percent who say pro-life.

With millennials, ages 18 to 33, 36 percent say that Hollywood is pro-life, while 28 percent said it is pro-choice.

The survey was commissioned by the makers of the independent film "Because of Gracia," scheduled to be released in September, according to the report.

It stars Moriah Peters of "American Idol" fame as a high school student who comes under attack for her commitment to having sex only after she gets married.

The movie, which also stars actor John Schneider, includes a parallel story of abortion – and "the filmmakers were curious to poll American moviegoers on the topic," according to The Hollywood Reporter.
