Actor Baldwin Blasts Inhofe on Twitter

GOP climate change skeptic Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., was lambasted by liberal Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin, who attacked the senator in a series of caustic tweets that concluded with the charge that he should be retired “to a solar-powered gay bar,” reports The Hill.

“Is there a bigger Oil Whore than James Inhofe,” Baldwin, star of the hit NBC show “30 Rock,” tweeted Saturday to his 776,000 followers.

“Oil Whore Jim Inhofe has betrayed every man and woman who lost their livelihood on the Gulf due to BP’s overwhelming negligence,” Baldwin tweeted later on Saturday, according to The Hill.

Baldwin continued with his rant against Inhofe which included a public message to actor Matthew Modine, stating, “We need to have Inhofe retire to a solar-powered gay bar.”

Inhofe, a staunch supporter of oil and gas producers, was criticized for his energy ties by Robert F. Kennedy Jr., who earlier in March called Inhofe “big oil’s top call girl.”

Matt Dempsey, a spokesman for Inhofe, strongly criticized the insults, the Hill reported.

“These kind of outrageous statements made recently on Twitter by Robert Kennedy Jr. and Alec Baldwin stand in stark contrast to the civil debate Sen. Inhofe had with Rachel Maddow last week,” Dempsey said in an email Monday. Maddow is an MSNBC host.

“In truth, the far left and Hollywood elites have lost on their pet cause of global warming. The only way to get their attention these days is to make outlandish and irresponsible comments on Twitter,” Dempsey wrote.
