A baby died Thursday after she and her mother were struck in an alleged Tampa street racing crash Wednesday, the Tampa Bay Times reported.

Jessica Raubenolt, 24, died Wednesday while legally crossing at an intersection in the northbound lane of Bayshore Boulevard in Tampa while strolling her 21-month-old daughter, Lillia, authorities told the Times.

Cameron Herrin, 18, and John Alexander Barrineau, 17, who witnesses claimed were racing in vehicles along the boulevard when the collision with Raubenolt happened, were arrested by Tampa police, according to the newspaper.

Both face two counts of vehicular homicide and street racing. Each was released on $10,000 bail. Tristin Herrin, 20, a passenger in one of the vehicle, faces a misdemeanor charge of racing and was freed after posting $500 bail.

A witness told police that Raubenolt was thrown "into the air" after she was struck by one of the vehicles, ABC News reported. The witness estimated that the vehicles were traveling about 60 miles per hour on a street where the speed limit is 40 miles per hours, the network said.

ABC News wrote that Cameron Herrin was allegedly driving a Ford Mustang and Barrineau a gold Nissan at the time of the accident. Tristin Herrin was in Cameron Herrin's vehicle, per the network. A witness said, according to ABC News, that the Mustang was in front of the Nissan at first as the cars allegedly sped down the before changing lanes to avoid slower traffic.

Raubenolt, who lives in Ohio and was visiting family in Florida, died shortly after at Tampa General Hospital while her daughter died the next day, the Times reported.

"We're praying for those young boys and their families," John Reisinger, 62, Raubenolt's uncle who lives about a quarter-mile from the scene, told the Times. "We hope something good will come of this foolish accident. That’s what Jessie would want."

Family member described Raubenolt was a devoted mother, wife and niece who married David Raubenolt two years ago after meeting him at Kent State University, according to the Tampa Bay Times.

David Raubbenolt was attempting to obtain his certification as a single-engine pilot in Pompano Beach and the family planned to return to Ohio next week, the newspaper said.
