Ashton Kutcher surprised talk show host Ellen DeGeneres Wednesday on her show with a $4 million donation to the star's wildlife fund, according to E! News.
The comedian and daytime host started the Ellen DeGeneres Wildlife Fund to support global conservation efforts for critically endangered species and building a permanent home for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund, one of its first initiatives, according to its website.
The "That 70's Show" actor surprised DeGeneres after she made mention of the fund during a segment of her talk show, E! News said.
"I'm getting ready to go on vacation," DeGeneres told Kutcher, per E! News, describing her efforts to build the Fossey Gorilla Fund building. "I'm going to Africa to start building the campus. I'm going to look at where I'm going to build my campus to save the mountain gorillas."
Kutcher brought out Guy Oseary, his investment partner in Ripple, and explained the company's efforts to assist people who "are doing good in world," E! News wrote. That's when they made the announcement.
"You're always thinking about everyone else and we wanted to show you that people are thinking about you," Kutcher told DeGeneres. "So, on behalf of Ripple, we'd like to give you $4 million."
DeGeneres started to well up at the generosity.
"Oh my God. That was the most amazing thing," DeGeneres told Kutcher and Oseary, according to E! News. "I love you both so much — you know that."
The Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund will permanently secure the future of wild gorillas in Rwanda by building on successful field conservation efforts, while supporting people living near the gorillas to help them in relationship to their own ecosystem, according to the wildlife fund website.
The fund reported that the late Fossey founded the Karisoke Research Center in Rwanda's Virunga mountains in 1967 to protect and study the endangered mountain gorillas. The website said Fossey's has been continued through the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund and other conservation efforts.
