CW's so-called Arrowverse will get bigger with the addition of Batwoman to its next crossover event in the fall, joining other live-action DC Comics superheroes, CW president Mark Pedowitz announced this week, Deadline reported.

Pedowitz made the announcement with "Arrow" star Stephen Amel during a presentation of the fall crossover that usually lasts over the course of three consecutive nights and is highly anticipated by DC fans, Deadline reported.

"We're incredibly excited to announce that we'll be doing another crossover event this fall on the CW, and we'll be introducing a new character," Amell said, according to Entertainment Weekly. "For the very first time appearing, we'll be fighting alongside Batwoman, which is terrific. The crossover is going to make it to air in December. I need to leave right now and start filming it."

Last year's crossover storylines involved stars of "The Flash," "Arrow," "Supergirl," and "Legends of Tomorrow" all appearing on each other's shows.

"This is the first time ever that Batwoman make a live-action appearance on any screen," Pedowitz said, according to Deadline.

Deadline wrote that the Batwoman character first appeared in DC Comics in 1956, in which she was introduced as a love interest for Batman. The character appeared on television in the animated series "Batman: The Brave and the Bold," which premiered on Cartoon Network in 2008, the website said.

Batwoman also appeared in the animated direct-to-video film "Batman: Mystery of the Batwoman," voiced by Kyra Sedgwick. Other animated series that included Batwoman were "The New Batman Adventures," "Batman vs. Robin," 2016's "Batman: Bad Blood," according to Deadline.com.

"As Batwoman, Kate (Kane) combines her special operative training and deep sense of discipline to serve justice to criminals," DC Comics said of the character on its website. "In fact, of all of Batman's allies, Batwoman may be the one who's most like him. Her military training makes her a tough adversary in both armed and unarmed combat, her experiences have made her a strong opponent of injustice and her intelligence has led her to become a solid detective."

Alicia Silverstone starred as Batgirl in the 1997 big budget movie "Batman and Robin," where George Clooney starred as the capped crusader, Chris O'Donnell as Robin, with Arnold Schwarzenegger and Uma Thurman as the villains Mr. Freeze and Poison Ivy, respectively.
