Pop singer Ariana Grande found nothing funny about a joke comedian and fiance Pete Davidson made about the Manchester bombing last fall before they were a couple, but she still supports him.
After the bombing, which left hundreds injured and 22 dead in May 2017, Davidson made a joke that "Britney Spears didn't have a terrorist attack at her concert" during a benefit in support of Puerto Rico.
A year after the tragedy, Grande talked to the British Vogue about battline post-traumatic stress syndrome after the incident.
"It's hard to talk about because so many people have suffered such severe, tremendous loss," she said.
On Twitter, one couldn’t understand how Grande could remain with Davidson after making his Manchester quip.
Grande responded Thursday that while the remark was “unfortunate,” it wasn’t made with malice.
Davidson has his own personal demons, also driven by an act of terrorism: His father lost his life as a firefighter during the Sept. 11 attack by al Qaida. Grande has the number “8418” — the badge number of Davidson’s late father Scott — tattooed on her foot, ET Online reported last month.
Reaction on social media was mixed.
But the person who raised the issue had a kind response for Grande.
