Arby’s will debut venison sandwiches nationwide Oct. 21 and will begin testing elk sandwiches in three locations in Colorado, Wyoming, and Montana.
The venison sandwiches were tested last year in five states where hunting is popular and they sold out in minutes. This year’s sandwiches are limited edition and will only be available until supplies run out.
“If people are interested in trying the sandwich, the only way to guarantee they can get one is to get there when we open or a little before and make sure they are in line, just like the folks last year,” Chief Marketing Officer Jim Taylor suggested, USA Today reported.
The sandwiches are supplied by a New Zealand vendor and are grass-fed and free-range, Taylor said, calling the promotion the “biggest venison promotion in the world any restaurant” has had, USA Today reported.
The sandwich's thick cut venison steak and crispy onions are complemented by a juniper berry sauce and served on a toasted roll.
In a news release, Taylor called the venison sandwich “a perfect example of the level of innovation coming from our teams and our commitment to creating experiences that guests can only get at Arby’s.”
Twitter users were mostly excited about the new offering, although as usual there were a few detractors.
