Anothony Bourdain's final season of "Parts Unknown" will be released in the fall, CNN announced Wednesday.
The 12th season of the CNN series was in production when Bourdain took his own life in Paris in June. One episode of the award-winning series was already completed by that time, the Los Angeles Times reported. It was shot in Kenya with CNN “United Shades of America” host W. Kamau Bell.
The remaining episodes will be shot in Manhattan's Lower East Side, the Big Bend area of Texas along the U.S.-Mexico border, the Asturias region of Spain, and Indonesia, according to the Times. Those episodes will feature pre-recorded audio from Bourdain.
"Each one will feel slightly different depending on what’s gathered in the field," Amy Entelis, CNN Executive VP of Talent and Content and who launched "Parts Unknown" in 2013, told the Times. “They will have the full presence of Tony because you’ll see him, you’ll hear him, you’ll watch him. That layer of his narration will be missing, but it will be replaced by other voices of people who are in the episodes.”
One episode of the season will feature the cast and crew discussing the making of “Parts Unknown,” and will include outtakes and behind-the-scenes clips of Bourdain.
The same week the 61-year-old Emmy Award-winning Bourdain took his life, fashion icon Kate Spade also committed suicide.
Fans of the series applauded CNN’s decision to go forward with Season 12 of "Parts Unknown."
