Fans of Anthony Bourdain's "Parts Uknown" series on CNN have come down hard on Gordon Ramsay's new series "Unchartered," which they feel is a shoddy attempt by the Scottish chef to mimic the late American celebrity chef.

Ramsay's forthcoming series, announced last week, will see the foul-mouthed chef "embark on anthropology-through-cuisine expeditions to unearth the most incredible people, places and flavors the world has to offer," National Geographic reported.

The show will have the 51-year-old 'MasterChef Junior' host traveling the world, learning about other cultures through food – not much unlike Bourdain's 'Parts Unknown' series.

Filming for "Unchartered" will begin this fall and the series will premiere globally in 2019 on NatGeo in 171 countries and 43 languages.

The announcement has drawn heavy criticism on social media, with Twitter users expressing distaste towards Ramsay's new show.

Close acquaintances of Bourdain had predicted that TV execs would try to cash in on the concept of his show with their own versions following his suicide earlier this year.

"My fear is that having realized how valuable he was now that he’s gone, that there’s some network out there ready to launch 30 Bourdain copycat shows with real idiots hosting them," close friend and fellow chef Andrew Zimmern told Us Weekly.

"That’s probably my biggest fear, which would be, I think, a setback to all the work that not only Tony did, but that I’m doing and that others are trying to do."

CNN certainly has had no dearth of posthumous Bourdain promos and shows, and the network is preparing to air a final season of "Parts Unknown'' this fall, Variety reported.

One episode is reportedly already finished and four others are in the works with the help of directors and producers working around the clock to complete them.

Bourdain was in France working on an upcoming episode for 'Parts Unknown' when he was found unresponsive in his hotel room in June.
